Category: Uterovaginal Prolapse Surgery
Uterovaginal prolapse surgery is a procedure to correct prolapse, or sinking, of the uterus and vaginal walls into the vaginal canal. This condition occurs when the muscles and tissues that support the pelvic organs weaken, often due to childbirth, aging, or increased pressure on the abdomen. Surgical options vary, including vaginal, abdominal, or minimally invasive (laparoscopic) procedures, depending on the severity of the prolapse and the patient's medical condition. The goal of surgery is to restore normal anatomical support, relieve symptoms such as pelvic pressure and discomfort, and improve quality of life. In some cases, the uterus may be removed (hysterectomy), or supportive mesh or sutures may be used to hold the organs in place.
