Category: Caesarean Section
A cesarean section is a surgical procedure in which a baby is delivered through cuts in the mother's abdomen and uterus. This method of delivery is usually planned when a vaginal birth poses risks to the mother or baby or is performed as an emergency if complications arise during delivery. During a cesarean section, an incision is made in the lower abdomen and another incision in the uterus to allow the baby to be delivered safely. The operation usually takes about 45 minutes, the baby is usually born within the first few minutes, after which the incisions are closed.
